The system claims to represent its stakeholders. The system claims to be transparent. In a sideways market, this dynamic compounds. When prices offer no feedback, communities disengage, and treasury managers default to automation as a stopgap. They are already there, voting in a language humans no longer fully understand. We built a kingdom of ghosts in the machine, and now we must decide whether they are our servants or our successors. To govern the future, we must debug the present โ€” and that requires more than better code. It requires the courage to say that not every voice in the machine deserves a vote.
